Scitech's leadership team is comprised of Alan Brien as Chief Executive Officer and six department Directors.
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer for the past thirteen years, Alan Brien has seen Scitech grow into Australia’s leading science centre. Under his guidance, Scitech has undergone a major refurbishment including the installation of the largest digital planetarium in the Southern Hemisphere and the expansion of Scitech's Outreach programs in partnership with Rio Tinto WA Future Fund.
Director of Business and Finance
Gary has a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University of Technology and is a Certified Practising Accountant (CPA). Prior to joining Scitech, he held the position of Regional Accountant with the Australian Wool Corporation and has held many other senior financial positions. Gary also manages Scitech's Travelling Exhibitions.
Director of Science Programs
As the Director of Science Programs, Andrew leads the planning and implementation of engaging content in a wide variety of exhibition spaces, two theatres, a planetarium, and a science lab plus several events for over 300,000 visitors each year.
Dr Simon Carroll
Director of Science Partnerships
In this role, Simon is responsible for many aspects of community science engagement, including Inspiring Australia activities, National Science Week in WA, and the online publication of ScienceNetwork WA telling the world about WA science.
Director of Communications and Marketing
Veronika leads the marketing, communications and IT functions at Scitech. Her team looks after traditional and digital communications, and engages online audiences in conversations about the world of STEM. She is responsible for increasing visitation to City West and through Scitech’s Outreach program.
Director of Outreach Programs
Nick is responsible for leading Scitech’s Outreach Department which aims to encourage Western Australians to value, use and study STEM. His team delivers a suite of tailored science, technology, engineering and mathematics programs to Western Australians in literally every corner of the state.
