In 2018, Scitech entered the Hall of Fame for the Western Australian Export Awards, following consecutive awards from 2015 to 2017.
The prestigious honour is exclusively given to organisations who are three-time winners of their specific category, with Scitech receiving the Creative Industries Award in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The awards were given in recognition of the international success of its travelling exhibitions program.
Scitech’s Chief Executive Officer, Deb Banning, proudly accepted the Hall of Fame honour at the 30th Anniversary Gala Dinner at the Hyatt Regency, Perth.
“This is an incredible acknowledgment of Scitech’s achievements on a global stage. We are very proud of the small role we play in putting Western Australia on the map as part of our work with other Science Centres around the world,” Ms Banning said.
“This honour is a reflection of the creativity, passion and commitment of our staff, who put their heart and soul into every exhibition that we create – so I dedicate this achievement to every one of them.”
Scitech has toured its feature exhibitions to North American science centres since 2014, and currently has 10 exhibitions in rotation at various Science and Technology Centres around the world, including the NASA Space Center, Houston.
Scitech’s exhibitions attract over 200,000 visitors on average at each Science Centre around the globe. In 2017, Scitech engaged over 1.15 million visitors in total across 20 science centres in North America as a direct result of its award-winning exhibitions.
The distinctive style of Scitech’s hands-on exhibits results in an immersive experience that enables visitors to interact and learn in a fun and engaging way.
In 2017, Scitech’s travelling exhibitions program also won the Roy L. Shafer Leading Edge Award for Business Practice from the Association of Science and Technology Centers (ASTC).
The Western Australian Industry & Export Awards are coordinated by the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation and managed by the Export Council of Australia. They recognise and honour Western Australia’s most innovative and forward-thinking companies.
