A chance for two Year 10 students to take an original research project all the way to the Beijing Youth Science Creation Competition.
This program is currently unavailable.
The Beijing Bound program is a partnership between Rio Tinto and Scitech. It gives Year 10 students from Karratha and Busselton the chance to develop and undertake an original scientific research project – all with the support and mentorship of Rio Tinto science graduates.
Students develop a research plan, write a literature review, carry out scientific research, write a scientific report and then present their research in a science-style event. From this, two students are awarded the opportunity to take their projects to the Beijing Youth Science Creation Competition.
The Beijing Bound program is an invaluable way for students to combine their passion for science with their knowledge of their surroundings. It’s also an opportunity for students to undertake, and be mentored through, actual scientific research. And for us, it’s a great way to shine a light on the brightest stars in Busselton and Karratha.
