Join us for an exhilarating day of activities at Scitech, including the Mars Landing Challenge, where participants can construct a Mars landing craft and aim for a smooth touchdown on the Martian surface. Experience virtual exploration with Virtual Reality Headsets on the “Mission International Space Station,” where participants aged 8 and up can embark on a virtual spacewalk.
Catch our exciting shows; Under Pressure explores atmospheric pressure, challenging your perceptions using the surrounding air and science. A Little Space and Astronaut offer immersive full dome experiences in the planetarium.
There’s something for everyone at Scitech these school holidays, with doors open from 9am daily (usually 9.30am).

Workshops by The Kids
Our good friends at The Kids are back with their entertaining workshops for the first week of the holidays. This holiday program is overflowing with fun and interactive sessions—featuring some of your all-time favourite topics like ‘Wee & Me’ and ‘Poo & You’. These engaging workshops cater to ages 5-8 and 9-12. Join us for a fantastic experience!

What’s On – Shows
🌪️ Under Pressure – Chevron Science Theatre
‘Under Pressure’ explores the idea of atmospheric pressure. In this show, we will explore just how much pressure we’re really under as we use nothing but the ocean of air around us – and a little bit of science – crush your assumptions, explode your expectations and turn your world inside out.
🌑 A Little Space – Planetarium
Join in as we count down, take off and travel through space and experience the wonders of our Solar System. In this spectacular 10-minute voyage we’ll visit new worlds, navigate safely through asteroids. This is a brand-new show that has been created by Scitech, especially for visitors under the age of five.
🧑🚀 Astronaut – Planetarium
This exciting full dome show takes viewers on an unforgettable journey of an Astronaut, from lift off to living on the International Space Station. Discover the perils that lurk in space as ‘Chad’, the test Astronaut, faces everything space can throw at him.
Note: This is for visitors over the age of 4. ‘A Little Space’ will be the all-ages show
What’s On – Activities
🔴 Destination Mars | Feature Exhibition
Through 17 hands-on exhibits, you’ll be tasked with solving problems in a new land. From packing for your mission to exploring the surface of the Red Planet, you’ll get a taste of the science and technology needed to survive.
✂️ Mars Landing Challenge
In this hands-on activity, build a Mars landing craft using the materials provided. The challenge is to smoothly land your Mars Rover on the surface of Mars, without a crash landing.
🥽 Virtual Reality Headsets
Join mission International Space Station and undertake a virtual spacewalk in low Earth orbit (suitable for ages 8+).
🧪Pop-up Science
Pop-up Science ‘busks’ will be running throughout the day in the Rio Tinto Innovation Centre grandstand space.
Good to Know
Quiet Space: Our low sensory room will be available for a recharge, away from the excitement. This is located near the exit to the Discovery Shop.
Getting to Scitech: Parking is free for 2 hours via the machines in the undercover car park. Scitech visitors also have access to a $5 for 5 hours parking ticket, via the parking machines located inside the City West Centre and Scitech. If you’re catching public transport, we’re located across from the City West train station, one stop from Perth City on the Fremantle Line. Plus, SmartRider holders ride for free on Sundays.
