Workshop: Future Makers

As part of the School Pathways Program, proudly supported by the Minister for Defence Industry and Capability, Scitech is excited to offer this fully subsidised secondary school excursion.

You have reached the main content region of the page.

Scitech’s Future Makers program inspires high school students to pursue science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and career pathways relevant to the defence industry.

The Department of Defence supports this excursion, making it free for secondary students (Year 7-12) for Terms 3-4, 2025, and Term 1, 2026.

This program includes the Sky’s the Limit workshop (1 hour), free time in Scitech’s exhibition galleries, plus the choice of either a planetarium show (1 hour) or a Chevron Science Theatre show (30 mins).

Duration: 3-5 hours
Years: 7-12
Terms: 3-4 2025, 1 2026

What’s Included:

🛩️ Workshop: Sky’s the Limit
Prepare for take-off with this exclusive workshop! Students will step into the shoes of engineers as they build, test, and refine prototypes to tackle real-world aeronautical challenges faced by the defence industry. What future will your students make?

🌏 Planetarium Show: Birth of Planet EarthChoice 1
This spectacular show tells the tale of our planet’s origins and explores some of the greatest questions in science today: How did the Earth come into being? What does its history tell us about our chances of finding a similar world out there in space?

🪐 Planetarium Show: Capturing the Cosmos – Choice 2
In this immersive planetarium show, modern astronomy is a far cry from the ancient stargazer hunched over an eyepiece. Explore how scientists use vast datasets, multi-wavelength observations, and computer simulations to study a universe filled with galaxies, dark energy, and matter.

🔥 Live Science Show: It’s Elementary – Choice 3
It’s Elementary is all about the elements… the things that makeup everything around us. With help from fire, water, and air, explore with our presenter how they mix, change and react in surprising ways!

🚀 Free Exploration
Students can explore the incredible and immersive Scitech exhibits, including the Destination Mars feature exhibition, at a self-guided pace.

👩‍🏫 Future Makers Educator Resource
All participating teachers will receive a free educator resource, giving them the tools to continue the conversation in their classrooms

🧑‍🎓 Future Makers Careers Guide
