Media FAQs

It is possible to film in all areas of the Science Centre at City West. However, there are a few considerations: time of day and working around our peak visitation hours, staffing, lighting and media permission forms. We will do our best to accommodate your request, however please appreciate that some flexibility may be needed on your behalf.

The Scitech Planetarium is a dark space, and filming or taking photos is not straightforward.

Film crews and photographers cannot use lighting or flashes as they will interfere with the images on the screen.

We also consider your request in the context of our normal show schedule and peak visitation periods, which may make photography or filming unfeasible.

If you wish to film our visitors, we will need to arrange for parents to sign permission forms for their children. This may happen prior to your filming, or on the day, and we will either work with you or ask you to organise this, determined on a case-by-case basis.

As Scitech is deemed a ‘public space’, news crews can film without first asking permission of parents.

We always notify our visitors if filming is taking place in the Science Centre, as a matter of courtesy.
